Andain is Josh Gabriel, Mavie Marcos and David Penner. Their blend of soulful, dub-inspired music combines live instruments, stunning vocal performances and emotional electronics.
Josh, 33, has been making music with computers since the mid 80's. His signature production style involves sculpting sound into musical textures, taking listeners on a journey. In the dance music world, Josh is known for his debut progressive track, "Wave3," and his Gabriel&Dresden remix collaborations for New Order, DJ Tiesto, Way Out West, Rodger Goode, 4 Strings, Paul Oakenfold and Beber&Tamara. Josh was also the co-founder of MixmanÔ Technologies remixing software, responsible for the creative and technical direction of the product for 8 years. His diverse background includes positions such as mastering engineer (Disney's "Aladdin" soundtrack), sound designer (Oddworld video games), and training engineer for Sonic Solutions editing systems at Warner Brother's Films, Sony Music, and Disney Studios. Josh has an undergraduate degree in music composition from California Institute of the Arts and has studied at the Institute of Sonology in Den Hague, The Netherlands.
Mavie, 24, a composer and lyricist, has been singing most of her life. Mavie has a varied musical theatre background and has had rolls in plays such as "Pirates of Penzance," "West Side Story," and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." Mavie has her undergraduate degree in neuroscience from Wellesely College and is currently studying naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University.
David, 28, has been collaborating with musicians for 15 years. He plays acoustic and electric guitar, bass, sitar, piano, and saxophone. David has been in several bands including "Nine Headed Cactus Demon" (lead guitar, lead vocals), "Gage" (lead guitar) and "Kickbacks" (bass). Like Mavie and Josh, music is his first love, although he has his undergraduate degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
